Our Manufacturing Facility

All California Baby products are produced in our own FDA registered, certified organic facility located in Los Angeles, California. Solar panels provide our facility with up to 80% of our energy.

Transparency and integrity is at the core of California Baby’s DNA. We keep a vigilant eye on every ingredient that goes into our products as well as every step of the manufacturing process to ensure that our purity and quality always meets or exceeds the highest standards in the world.

Ingredient Quality Standards

Our ingredients are sourced from American and European suppliers that have been meticulously researched and vetted for purity and safety. We also conduct supplier site visits and facility tours to ensure our strict ingredient specifications are being upheld. We go to the extreme - in 2010 when superior quality, organic Calendula flowers became hard to source, we purchased and transitioned a Santa Barbara vineyard to grow it ourselves organically.

We collaborate closely with our suppliers to develop innovative, safe ingredients with superior performance. Pure essential oils are at the heart of our products, so it’s important that our supply is of the highest grade available. California Baby tests all essential oils we receive to ensure they are free of synthetic additives and pesticides. We also test to verify that they are undiluted and contain all the elements that make each essential oil unique so that every product gets the full benefits of these precious botanical oils.

Once the supply chain has been thoroughly vetted and tested, we bring the ingredients to our FDA-registered, organic certified facility in Los Angeles.

QUALITY CONTROL


Our quality control testing goes way above the industry norm. We test our ingredients when they arrive at our Los Angeles facility to ensure they meet our strict quality specifications for purity and efficacy.

Before any of our product formulas are approved they go through a series of important tests to make sure it upholds our promise of purity, safety and quality. For example, we test the effectiveness of our preservatives by adding millions of bacteria to the product to ensure it performs to preserve and protect the product. Each product also goes through RIPT (Repeat Insult Patch Test) that checks for skin irritation. Passing this test results in an ‘Allergy Tested’ seal.

Every time a product is batched, samples go through another battery of tests. The entire process is repeated again before the bottle is filled and shipped to you.

Since we exclusively manufacture California Baby products, there is no cross contamination in our formulas from other brands or products. When we say our products are free of gluten, soy, oats, dairy, and nuts…we mean it!

This pharmaceutical-grade scrutiny is not required and is very rare in personal care products. Most skincare brands cannot or will not submit to this level of quality assurance testing.

Research & Development

Making products with truly green, safe and sustainable ingredients isn’t easy. We collaborate with our suppliers to create entirely new and effective plant-based ingredients, which are exclusive to California Baby. We value their commitment to green chemistry innovation. We then do extensive R&D testing to incorporate these materials into our products.

Taking Green to the Extreme

We have been committed to sustainability before it became a standard for corporate social responsibility. Solar panels provide our facility with up to 80% of our energy. Our high-efficiency machinery used for production surpasses EPA minimums by 250%. Our recyclable HDPE packaging components contain post-consumer (PCR) recycled materials.

We’ve reduced our carbon footprint by starting our own organic farm. Growing and extracting many of our botanical oils and extracts ourselves in California means less transportation costs and the freshest and finest raw materials possible. We even go as far as funneling condensation from air conditioning and rainwater off our roof into barrels at California Baby HQ to water plants.
